The Handel and Haydn Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Tax ID #: 04-2126598. Each gala table sponsorship includes a non-deductible amount of $4,600 representing the fair market value of the event. The remainder of each table sponsorship will be a tax duductible donation.
Please note that recent IRS guidance indicates that event sponsorships and tickets may not be paid for using grants from Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) or other exempt funds due to the personal benefit received by the donor in exchange for the contribution. Further, the IRS has ruled that bifurcation of donations (splitting the deductible portion from the non-deductible portion of the grant) may not be permitted. If you choose to decline all tangible benefits, and do so for your guests as well, your sponsorship may be funded 100% through your DAF. Aditionally, using DAF grants to pay for auction items purchased at the event may not be permitted. H+H recommends that Gala sponsors and ticket buyers consult their donor-advised fund manager, tax advisor, and legal counsel for definitive tax guidance.
